Fearlessness Flows through our Veins

I must first speak of the women with whom I share blood.

These are the women who have raised me.

Who have cared for me and have shown me just how our strength so freely flows through our veins. Their screams have sent chills down my spine and turned my skin ablaze.

My eyes have burned at the sight of their bruises. My ears roared as they have wailed into the night when their men have died. But when the sun rose, they too, awoke and bared their hearts to love again. These are the women who have fought and screamed and worked so hard to ensure sunshine for the next day.

So why am I so suddenly afraid to move to a new town or speak to the man who has broken my heart or simply just to get out of bed in the morning? The woman that I am would not be afraid to live and conquer the life that I so desperately want.

Think of the men and women who have ravaged through their lives. Let their resilience be haunting reminders to bleed and be so unforgiving to fight for what we want.
